While recently we were all surprised the number of tweets that are written per day on Twitter, a mobile social network in Southeast Asia twice daily processes of messages. As usual, living in the West, we do not usually pay attention to what happens in Asia, but in this particular case there is an interesting process that may have to see us.
Mig33 is, which receives about 100 million messages per day (1000 messages per second) and focuses part of their earnings in a “virtual gifts” that can be done through the social network, taking this model as the service base Chinese instant messaging Tencent QQ.
The reason for the widespread use of Mig33 is on the one hand, the high cost of SMS services of mobile teleonĂa in emerging countries and the fact that, for example in India, there are 10 phones per computer. The social network that provides services in microblogging but we can also share pictures, send emails and even make VoIP calls, is developed in Java and is optimized to more than 2,000 different mobile devices and comes to fill that void.
In speaking countries, where telecommunications companies leave much to be desired and where there are serious problems of access to technology, it is interesting to see social networks as a replacement for something so common and widespread as text messages, due to cost. That other, taking into account the logic of Teddy Bautista, will soon be to claim that services like Twitter are payments.
